Gloucestershire Community Foundation, an independent charity operating in Gloucestershire, manages funds donated by individuals and organisations, builds its endowment and acts as a vital link between donors and local needs, connecting people with causes in the county and enabling clients to achieve far more than they could by themselves. Grants made by GCF in 2007 to causes in Gloucestershire amounted to £ 581,000 with the average grant of £3,000.
Over the UK, Community Foundations provide services to voluntary groups, donors and local communities and in 2006/7 made grants of over £75m to causes in their area, over 17,000 groups received a grant and £200m of endowment funds are being managed by members of the foundation network in the UK.

GLOUCESTERSHIRE ENVIRONMENTAL TRUST

The Gloucestershire Environmental Trust provides grants using the Landfill Communities Fund, donated by Cory Environmental for the benefit of communities in Gloucestershire (excepting South Gloucestershire), its people and its environment. The Landfill Communities Fund is operated by Entrust environmental bodies and funding is only granted to applications approved by Entrust. Applications must come from non-profit making organisations. The Henry Smith Charity’s County Grants programme offers one year grants of £500-£10,000 and multi-year grants of up to £20,000 over three years for work benefitting communities in a number of counties, including Gloucestershire. In Kind Direct was founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1996 and operations began in 1997. It encourages manufacturers and retailers to donate their high quality surplus for distribution to good causes and is the only organisation coordinating UK-wide in-kind giving. Their network of voluntary organisations represents every kind of cause – family welfare, sickness and disability, homelessness, emergency relief, environment, ethnic support and community groups. It is free for voluntary organisations to join In Kind Direct’s network, and they will receive access to an online catalogue of available goods.

An independent grant making trust based in Gloucestershire. The Trust makes grant payment to voluntary and community sector organisations working with children and young people (aged 0-21) living in Gloucestershire. The Trust's mission is to provide support to young people who are economically and educationally disadvantaged.
